ABOUT MIDLAND NATIONAL

History
Midland National's story is a classic example of American perseverance and ingenuity. Founded in 19061, Midland National has survived two world wars, the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and multiple recessions. Now with over 100 years under its belt, Midland National holds over 1 million life insurance and annuity policies with assets2 of $30 billion.

Stability
As part of a privately held company, we are not subject to the short-term earnings pressures that publicly held companies face. We are a company with plans to perpetuate itself for hundreds of years, not the next quarter or fiscal year. We focus on the long term. We focus on you.

Ownership
Midland National is a member of Sammons Financial Group, a privately owned insurance holding company. Private ownership, in part by employee owners3, makes Midland National unique in the life insurance industry. This kind of ownership creates an atmosphere where personal, efficient service is the priority.

With life operations located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the Annuity Division located in West Des Moines, Iowa, and Corporate Markets located in Fargo, North Dakota, Midland National operates in 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, the island of Anguilla, and on several overseas military installations.

Strength
We are committed to responsible investing and a conservative investment strategy both of which have served the company well during difficult economic times. We consistently receive high ratings from third-party independent reporting and rating companies.
